About THE Russian Red Army Song and Dance Ensemble
THE Russian Red Army Song and Dance Ensemble, Russia's national armed forces' performing troupe, was established in 1973 and enjoys a high reputation throughout the world. During the development of the ensemble, general Eleseyev, its president and art director, worked his way through the ranks from ordinary soldier to general, and is the sole member of the Russian armed forces to have been awarded the president's medal.
The ensemble comprises Russia's most famous singers and dancers. The dances performed are graceful and vibrant, evoking the fiery flavor of the armed forces, as well as characteristics of the Russian nationality. Solos are distinctive, and demonstrate a solid grounding in basic skills. Combining tradition and innovation, the troupe members give their all in each performance, and have won high acclaim both at home and abroad.
The ensemble came to China four times in the consecutive years 1998 to 2001, and their spectacular performances have on each occasion been enthusiastically received.
