Ratko Delorko is a world-class pianist, composer, producer and conductor who lectures at the University of Frankfurt, Germany. He was born in Hamburg in 1959 and studied in Duesseldorf, Cologne and Munich. His concert activity has taken him to concert halls all over the world and his repertoire covers works from baroque to contemporary music.
He not only plays in concert halls but also performs at open air events and has even held a concert in the Dachstein Ice Cave in the Austrian Alps. As well as presenting celebrated compositions, Delorko's versatility is shown by also exploring works from less recognized composers and unknown compositions that have now been published on CD for the first time. Delorko also plays 'Jazz meets Classic' concerts together with Christoph Spendel.
Ratko Delorko's compositions cover music for piano, chamber music, orchestral works and electronic music. He recorded a CD with the title 'The History of the Piano' for the 'New Classic Colours' label. This album includes selections from the baroque era to contemporary, performed on twenty different original stringed keyboard instruments of the respective era. This project has been expanded for performances at concert venues and reviews have been enthusiastic and commend the artist for his artistic dedication linked with innovative and modern technology. On several of these instruments he performed and recorded two Beethoven piano concertos. Talking about recordings, there should also be made mention of Gershwin's complete Piano Oeuvre, Mozart Piano Concertos and his Chopin Recital that was recorded live at the Berlin Philharmonic.
Ratko Delorko currently teaches Master Classes in Europe, USA and Asia. He lectures at the University of Frankfurt, Germanyin addition to his tour schedule. He also writes articles and tests instruments and music software for music magazines. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)
