Today Symphonia Vienna comprises exceptional musicians from all over the world. Whether principally soloists, chamber musicians or leading orchestral musicians, all share the passion and joy of making music together. The ensemble is equally comfortable performing the most intimate chamber music as the large symphonic orchestral repertoire. The performance of classical music is in danger of becoming an obsolete art form if it only appeals to a limited and specialized audience.
The Symphonia Vienna aims to perform repertoire both traditional and new as well as exploring music from other cultures. Performing in less traditional venues also enables the communication of their musical legacy to a wider audience.
The orchestra focuses the attention especially on the expansion of the repertoire and the genres (jazz, avant-garde, film scores, ballet, opera), on an international positioning through tours and future CD productions as well as on a close relationship of the audience and the acquisition of new categories of listeners. Tradition and innovation are the two pillars of the Symphonia Wien, on the one hand the cultivation of the classical repertoire from Strauss, Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven via Schubert, Brahms and Bruckner to the 20th century, on the other hand contemporary music of all styles, new ways of making music and creative concepts... ...
