The ballet Moon Reflected in Er-quan Spring composed by a gifted street musician called Hua Yan Jun (or A'bing, as the native people always called him), is considered one of the foremost and treasured ballet productions in China. And the work for erhu Moon Reflected in Er-quan Spring, acclaimed and interpreted by several international maestros, so impressed President Jiang Zemin on the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of the Establishment of the MSAR that he asked for an encore of this inspiring music.
Synopsis:
The performance is based on a four-act love tragedy. It depicts the pure love of the two lovers A-Bing and Yue Er. But their pure love was ruined by a local landlord who forced Yue Er to be his concubine. Yue Er chose to throw herself into the lake and left A Bing alone. He was so heartbroken that he became blind...

The Liaoning Ballet Troupe (of Northeast China's Liaoning Province), is one of China's best-known professional groups dedicated to ballet. The troupe was founded in 1981.Since its founding, the Troupe has produced on stage a number of classic ballets, including the "Swan Lake", "Le Corsaire", "Unlockable Daughter" and selected Scenes from "Don Quixote", "Carmen", "Cinderella and "Romeo and Juliet. "The creations by the troupe include grand ballet "Butterfly Lovers" (the 1986 annual award winner of the excellent work prize issued by the Government of Liaoning Province), "Geda Meilin", "Peacock Bile (Excellent Ballet Award winner in the 1992 National Ballet Demonstration Performance Competition), "Moon Reflected in Two Springs(winner of 6 prizes in the 1997 National Ballet Demonstration Performance Competition). The Troupe has also been invited to visit the former Soviet Union, Malaysia, Japan and the regions of Hong Kong and Macao to participate in art festivals.
